From agricultural innovation to sustainable soil management, the 283rd Fiera d'Ottobre in Larino brought together stakeholders and professionals from across the olive-growing value chain. Radica was among the participating organisations, with its own exhibition stand and a contribution from Cosimo Mazzotta, Co-founder and Head of Technical Operations.

From 9 to 11 October 2026, Radica participated in the 283rd Fiera d'Ottobre in Larino, in the Molise region of Italy, as part of FieraFiliera, an initiative designed to promote the olive-growing value chain and strengthen connections among its various stakeholders.

The event, one of the region's longest-standing exhibitions, attracted more visitors than in recent years, reflecting continued interest in a sector that plays an important role in Molise's agricultural and economic identity.

One of the defining features of the 2026 edition was its focus on the entire value chain, with an exhibition organised into several thematic areas. From olive cultivation to processing and storage technologies, from research and marketing to agricultural consultancy and finance, FieraFiliera offered an integrated perspective on the sector, encouraging connections between businesses, technical expertise and institutions.

The aim was to move beyond the traditional concept of a trade fair as a simple showcase of products and companies, highlighting its potential as a platform for knowledge exchange and new collaborations. Particular attention was also given to the sustainability of the exhibition setup, with reusable cardboard structures, alongside a programme of activities, meetings and educational sessions designed for both industry professionals and the wider public.

Within this context, Radica participated with its own stand, bringing the role of regenerative agriculture and carbon farming in the transition of Mediterranean agriculture into the discussion. Soil management is one of the key challenges facing olive growers, who must address the impacts of climate change while maintaining the long-term productivity and functionality of their agricultural systems.

Through its work, Radica develops programmes that connect the adoption of improved agricultural practices with the measurement of climate outcomes, aiming to strengthen farm resilience and create new opportunities for economic value through carbon credits. The event provided an opportunity to present this approach and engage with farmers, professionals and other stakeholders across the olive-growing value chain.

On the final day of the event, Sunday 11 October, Cosimo Mazzotta, Co-founder and Head of Technical Operations at Radica, delivered a presentation focusing on carbon credits in the olive-growing sector. His presentation addressed the role of carbon farming and the importance of integrity and transparency in developing projects capable of delivering measurable environmental benefits and new opportunities for agricultural businesses.

Cosimo also encouraged farmers to carefully assess proposals and carry out thorough due diligence before joining projects promising exceptionally high financial returns, particularly those requiring immediate payment of upfront participation fees. He emphasised the importance of choosing initiatives based on clear criteria, reliable methodologies and transparent contractual terms.

Radica's participation in FieraFiliera provided an opportunity to bring these topics into a broader discussion about the future of Mediterranean olive cultivation, fostering dialogue among farmers, professionals and industry stakeholders. In a sector facing increasingly complex environmental and economic challenges, strengthening connections between farmers, research institutions and businesses is an important step towards encouraging the adoption of more sustainable and resilient agricultural practices.
